Yoga Teacher TrainingGrow your practice
Deciding to embark on a yoga teacher training can be a huge decision. Maybe you have been inspired by your own practice on the mat, by the teachings of another, or you innately know that it is time to start something new or expand on the knowledge you have already.
Whatever your motivation, our various teacher training & certification programs are deeply rooted in science, history and experience. Jenny has been professionally educating fitness professionals, college students and yoga teachers-to-be for over 10 years.
Our programs are insightful, engaging, and promote autonomous thinking and personal exploration so that each participant receives from the program precisely what they are seeking. It is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Independent learning is encouraged so that each graduate is empowered to take away the confidence, knowledge and skill-set that is in alignment with his or her own needs, strengths and desires.
“The key to success is to start before you’re ready.”

Advancing Anatomy Part 1: THE SPINE IN YOGA
As a certified yoga teacher, your 200-hour foundational training likely offered you the basics in anatomical learning, however, becoming an advanced teacher requires a higher level of understanding and education. This module will review the basics of anatomy & physiology and begin a more comprehensive understanding of biomechanics and functional anatomy as it relates to increasing our awareness, connections and responsibilities as yoga teachers. Specifically, Advancing Anatomy part 1 delves into the spine and core incorporating wisdom from highly trained yoga teachers and professional practitioners such as a massage therapist and a chiropractor.
Guest Educator: Katy Spiewak
Advancing Anatomy Part 2: HIPS & SHOULDERS IN YOGA
This module will continue with reviewing the basics of anatomy & physiology and go further in creating confidence with a more comprehensive understanding of biomechanics and functional anatomy as yoga teachers. Specifically, Advancing Anatomy part 2 delves into the shoulders and pelvis incorporating wisdom from highly trained yoga teachers and professional practitioners such as a pelvic floor specialist and a physiotherapist.
Guest Educator: Sherry Heenan
Anatomically Informed Sequencing: RESPONSIBLE SEQUENCING
In this module, we begin applying the anatomical foundations we have established in the previous two modules, as well as introducing kinesthetic-based movement science to create balanced, safe, and responsible sequences in our yoga classes. The knowledge that you are introduced to in this module will build your confidence and inspire your creativity on the mat. A significant portion of this module will be an integration of teaching from a certified strength coach focusing on functional movement integration.
Guest Educator: Shawn Charlebois
Trauma Informed Teaching : SUPPORTING ALL OF OUR STUDENTS
(This module is in conjunction with Module 8 which continues to look at Mental Health, Trauma, and the Nervous System through the lens of Somatics and Restorative Yoga)
Mental Health and Trauma-Informed teacher education are valuable for anyone who is guiding others in yoga. With an understanding that 1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health illness, and an estimated 10-15% of Canadians suffer from PTSD, it is up to us to ensure that we teach EVERY class in a sensitive and informed way. This module is designed to empower qualified yoga teachers to begin reaching individuals facing multiple barriers in their lives, including violence, post-traumatic stress disorder, addictions, mental illness or health challenges, and incarceration. Teachers who understand how to offer choice, focus on strengths and emphasize sensation can create an environment that facilitates mental healing, as well as physical.
Classic Yoga Philosophy & Subtle Body Immersion
In this module, we will delve more deeply into:
- Classical texts of yoga such as Sutras & Bhagavad Gita
- Deepen our comprehension of Sanskrit as it applies to yoga
- Sound healing
Guest Educator: Jessika Heinemann
Strength in Yoga: APPLYING ANATOMICAL AWARENESS
Yoga Through the Ages: SUPPORTING ALL BODIES
Join Jenny and yoga therapist Carol Phillips, in this intensive module examining mobility, accessibility, and adaptation in movement, specifically in bodies over the age of 50. With hesitation in labeling ‘Seniors’ or ‘Older Adults’, this module will purposefully inform yoga teachers as to common conditions that present within the body as we age, and responsible and creative ways that we can design yoga experiences that will support and empower our students who will benefit from accommodations. Teachers will gain confidence in guiding participants of any age who may present common degeneration processes as a result of natural aging.
Guest Educator: Carol Phillips
Debbie Gillespie, RYT-500, and Yin teacher will be guiding you through this module specific to the practice of Yin Yoga.
The following principles will be covered:
- 32 Yin Yoga poses & their variations
- How to teach Yin Yoga classes professionally
- How to teach, adjust & modify Yin Yoga poses
- How to use the props & support correctly
- How to create custom sequences
- How to improve your own Yin Yoga practice
- Yin Yoga Philosophy
- The 12 Meridians

Guest Educator: Debbie Gillespie
Somatics & Therapeutics in Mindful Sequencing
Somatics describes the practice of using mind-body awareness to connect with our internal selves, specifically through the Central Nervous System, to understand signals that the body sends about areas of pain, discomfort, or imbalance. Building from what we learned in module 4, this segment establishes an understanding of Somatics, the CNS, and supporting our students through Restorative and Somatic-inspired teaching.
The Science of Pain & Injury: Keeping Students Safe
This module takes an integrated approach to pain through the exploration of pain science as it applies to our role as yoga teachers and movement educators. We will be focusing on how we, as teachers, can apply student-centered care in yoga therapy and within in-class environments. You will complete this module with an understanding of how to address the practitioner that is experiencing pain, and how to empower your students in their own body.
Guest Educator: Carol Phillips
Independent Study Module
In this final module of our training, students will be branching off to embark on individualized units of study depending on their personal interests. Topics could include (but are not limited to): Establishing a thriving yoga business; Deepening Meditation; Pre-Post Natal yoga; Yoga for Children; Yoga for First-Responders, etc.
Each participant will be individually coached and mentored by faculty and will be submitting a final project to be shared with other course participants.
This unique learning opportunity allows participants to explore their own interest and passions within the realm of yoga and movement education
According to guidelines set by the Canadian Yoga Alliance, an online 300-hour YTT must incorporate 170 contact hours and 130 non-contact hours.
Each one of these 11 modules will thus offer 15.5 contact hours and 12 non-contact hours in the form of independent work, reading, watching recorded content & assigned work/teaching.
SUNDAY MODULE WILL be 9 am – 4 pm (30-minute lunch break) & TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY EVENING MODULES WILL BE 5 – 9 pm (15-minute break).
*The last month’s module will be scheduled slightly differently and will be designed to accommodate the student’s individual schedules.
What People Are Saying…
“Jenny’s program helped me to vastly expand my knowledge of yoga. The program also helped me to become much more mindful and inspired me to integrate the philosophies of yoga into my daily life. From the knowledge, guidance and unconditional support from Jenny, I am able to feel incredibly confident and thrive as a teacher. I gained so much from my experience including lasting friendships with my fellow students. I look forward to further expanding my training in the future with Jenny and would highly recommend her teachings!”
“What can I say, Jenny is authentic, intuitive, genuine, and brings an absolute wealth of wisdom and experience to her YTT. Whether talking about anatomy and physical safety, philosophy and the spiritual aspects of yoga, or the business and ethical side of being a yoga instructor, Jenny’s knowledge is apparent. It is clear that she genuinely cares about her students and will go out of her way to ensure they are successful.”
“I have recommended Jenny’s YTT program to a few people now. The program is well-rounded offering just enough emotional aspect as well as technical. Her extensive knowledge of anatomy made me a confident teacher, and her intuitive hand guided me in the direction I needed to go. This balance ended up being the key to me falling in love with what yoga could do for not only my life but what I could offer to others. After now being a part of the yoga community here in Barrie, and knowing all there is to offer, I would still take Jenn’s course without a moment of hesitation.“
